Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album is a return to a traditional sextet style and it was a more consistent, more powerful album with a sharper edge. Its edgier sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's greater ability on the drums and an improved, mature vocal delivery from singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was sharper, more intricate, and less derivative than previously recorded recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded the band's Amsterdam live show that was released on Eagle Records as a 2-CD set titled Falling In Between. A new studio album followed a few months later, and the band embarked on an extensive world tour in support of it.
